Patient Participation Group/Friends of Bosmere

The Bosmere medical Practice Patient Participation Group (PPG) aims are to promote and foster good relations between the Practice and patients, to act as advisors on communications between the Practice and patients and to work to improve services from a patient point of view.

There is renewed emphasis on this area due to the contractual obligation, effective 1 April 2015, for Practices in England to have a patient group representative of the practice population. With this requirement in mind, the Bosmere PPG recruited new members in 2015 to expand the work needed for the practice. The PPG until this time had existed as a group that had evolved from the Friends of Bosmere Patient voice scheme, and had been running as a PPG since 2009 focusing mainly on patient satisfaction with the delivery of services at the practice .In February 2014 the Bosmere PPG provided a representative to go to the newly formed Locality group.

Externally the PPG will liaise with South Eastern Hampshire Clinical Commissioning Group and provide representatives on the Locality group in order to work effectively with other practices in relation to the development of services to all patients.  The PPG is also affiliated to N.A.P.P. (National Association for Patient Participation), the umbrella organisation for patient-led groups in general practice in the UK.

Membership of the PPG is available to all registered patients of the Practice.  To maintain effective functioning, the committee will be limited to twelve members and will endeavour to meet five to six times per year.

The PPG’s activities will be determined by the needs of the practice, its patients and the wider community.
